Was he a hero? Yes, of course he was. An amazing example of his generation. He was a hero because he came from that generation of people who served, who inspired, that were prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for others. FOR YOU! A generation of heroes and heroines.

Unquestioning, hiding their fear behind their sense of duty to his fellow countrymen. And now? You’ve got to be joking!

They were a breed apart. Our parents, our grandparents. None of this “off to Dubai” with a bright yellow thong. None of this tax-haven living where nothing else matters apart from which model of Mercedes you own or how big your boat, bottom or boobs are. None of this cowardice. None of them come close to the “hero” status in my book.

How sad that instead of paying lip-service to a brave man the “listened to” personalities can’t actually learn what it is to be an icon without assuming that they are an influencer. We laughed at Harry Enfield’s character “Loads of money” but how true it is today. Reality stars or Tossers. I know what I’d call them. Plastic tarts on plastic beaches!

Alright, there a lot of folk out there that deserve the title of hero. You never get to hear of any but a handful. There are also a lot of people who are better known for their selfishness, their fat, lazy salaries, their criminal activities and their cowardice. Where’s Sir Peter Green and his millions when he’s needed? Where’s Sir Lewis Hamilton and his millions when he’s needed. Hiding in their bloody tax havens polishing their medals!

Fishing boat, Castle Pill.

Zoe Ball with her “gushy-darling-lovey” talk but how much of her million quid plus salary did she stick in the pot. Lineker, Rooney etc, etc And I haven’t even started! Thirty plus million quid was donated by ordinary people but pound to a pint of pig shit, I bet there’s some fat-cat fund manager creaming his fat-cat salary out of Capt T’s money.

I bet there’s some govt department thinking.....”how can we get a slice of that? How can we use it for something that we normally have to stump up for?”

So, thank you Captain Sir Tom Moore. Not just for last year where you were inspirational but for the previous ninety nine years where you served your country without question.
